The Cadet Oath

"I pledge that I will serve faithfully in the Civil Air Patrol cadet program, and that I will attend meetings regularly, participate actively in unit activities, obey my officers, wear my uniform properly, and advance my education and training rapidly to prepare myself to be of service to my community, state and nation."

An oath is a custom, dating back to the Romans, of publicly committing yourself to do a task. It makes you and other know you are really serious about doing what the oath says you will do.

The Civil Air Patrol Motto

The CAP Motto, "Semper Vigilans"--Always Vigilant--reflects the ever ready status of the Civil Air Patrol. It means that every member, cadet and senior, must be prepared to respond effectively to any situation.

The Honor Code

"We will not lie, steal, or cheat, nor tolerate among us anyone who does. Furthermore, I resolve to do my duty and live honorably, so help me God."

The Mission of Civil Air Patrol

CAP has a threefold mission which includes 1) an emergency service mission to provide humanitarian assistance in peacetime and domestic disasters, as well as civil defense and military services in a national emergency; 2) aerospace education of the general public in support of aerospace power; and 3) a cadet program to develop and motivate the youth of the country to leadership and responsible citizenship, through an interest in aviation.
